NANJING, CHINA

BRIDGES AND TUNNELS MUSEUM

June   /   2021

In 2021, CDG Co., as a result of its extensive experience in public infrastructure, e.g., tunnels and bridges, was commissioned to design China’s first bridges and tunnels infrastructure history museum and exhibition center in Nanjing, China. The project includes exhibition areas, restaurants, nursery, offices, several meeting rooms, parks, and roof gardens.

The design company in charge of the project is CDG Co. I participated as a team leader for the concept and project proposal. Currently, the project is in the modification stages after communication with the planning bureau.

The project was inspired in two main combined ideas: 1) to create a continuum with the hill on the back of the site, thus creating seamless integration with the park and the rooftop gardens, making them into a single element; 2) to create a parametric tunnel that unifies the project and generates an effect where visitors would feel immersive progression into the different exhibitions, hence creating a coherent visiting experience.
